Did you know – Moodjar’s own Len and Lisa Collard have another business venture? They are the proud proprietors of Villa Collard – a luxury villa in Lombok, Indonesia.
This week Villa Collard were Gold sponsors of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce’s Kaya Love All Innovation Summit held on Whadjuk country. This Summit is an initiative that fuses cultural celebration, economic exchange, and visionary leadership, while championing cross-cultural collaboration between Indonesia, Western Australia and the broader ASEAN region.
On behalf of Moodjar and Villa Collard, Len was invited to perform the Welcome to Country for this prestigious cross-cultural event. Len began his welcome in Bahasa Indonesian – honouring the language of attendees and organisers of the conference, and then Welcomed attendees to Country in Nyungar language, while playing a song on the Didgeridoo.
The word ‘Kaya’ was chosen for the name of the event, as it is a word that is common between Nyungar and Bahasa Indonesian. In Nyungar ‘Kaya’ means ‘Hello / Welcome’, and in Bahasa it means ‘Wealth / prosperity’.
A highlight of the event included the panel featuring Indonesia’s first Olympic Gold Medallist Susi Susanti, and Len and Lisa’s niece and Chairperson of Noongar Mia Mia - Jasmine Kadic. Our own Lisa Collard was also one of the lucky raffle prize winners of the night - securing a free return flight with Singapore Airlines!
For Len and Lisa the event was particularly special, as it brought their two worlds together. With Indonesia being Western Australia’s closest neighbour, trade routes between the two countries have been around for many years. This event was an opportunity to recognise and honour that through cultural diplomacy, while celebrating ongoing trade, commercial, and cultural exchange long into the future.
