This work began by undertaking an extensive review of the relevant literature, data and colonial records linked to each of the station sites and surrounds. This research provided an in-depth resource on the written narrative and history of each site, acting as just one knowledge source to draw from over the project.
Over several weeks and phases Moodjar and the MNRG workshopped theme and naming options drawn from the literature, word lists, and the primary source - the extensive cultural knowledge provided by the MNRG. The Reference Group then worked collaboratively and collectively to reach consensus on the Nyungar names and narratives for the stations. Each of these station names tell a story of the boodjar the station sits on, and provides a cultural journey for those travelling the new and updated METRONET lines.
